In connection with the sum of money lost by the Paeroa-Waihi coach the other day, one of the lost letters addressed to the manager of the Bank of New Zealand, Waihi, and containing only some stamps, was handed to the manager by a lady. None of the missing money, some £2OO, including cheques, has yet been recovered. There is some talk amongst the young ladies of Te Aroha of forming a Hockey Club. The game is one very suitable for the opposite sex, and would doubtless catch on if set in motion.

Mr Ec wards is absent from the colony, and his wife is conducting the business during his absence, but he has left eo attorney in the colony. The magistrate refused the application, holding that, under the circumstances, he would not be justified in granting the order. Messrs McNicol and Co. will hold q sale of dairy cows at Mr McKinley’s farm, Te Aroha'West, on Wednesday' next, 12th inst.- Mr McKinley has been dairying for about 25 years, and the cows to be offered are the result of careful selection during that time, and without doubt there is not a better herd in the district. Messrs McNicol and Co. will also hold a special sale of dairy cows .at Waihou sale yards on the following daj, Thursday, 13th inst., when upwards of 400 cows and heifers will be offered.

A meeting of the Waihou Branch of the N.Z. Farmers’ Union will be held in the Public Hall, Waihou, on Tuesday evening next. Those wishing to join the Manure Buying Association are requested to attend. Importers of New Zealand butter at home are thinking of shipping some back again, owing to high prices ruling locally this winter. We feel certain they would not do so if,,they only knew Johnson ahd Wigg are selling some of the very primest local farmers’ at lid per lb.—Advt. At the last meeting of the Pacroa Rugby Union a letter was read from the Secretary of the Te Aroha Club, asking that the disqualification passed last year on one of the Te Aroha players for using bad language in the Paeroa-Piako match be now removed. As the disqualification was imposed by the Goldfields Union, the application was referred to that body. •- ;

Messrs S dmoD and Guilding have been appointed collectors to canvas this part of the Ohinomuri Elect >ral district to see that every election is on the Roll and are correctly entered. Mr Guilding has tin town and the district on East of River to Gordon t Mr S llmon the Maogaiti, Waihou and Piflko Valley. Any one that has any d iubt aa being correctly entered should inspect the roll so that none are left off, the ladies especialiy-rfyery female over the age of 21 as well as the m:n are entitled to have their names on the roll. Mr John Robinson and several of his teams have been busy during the week carting concentrates from Ihe Waiorongomai battery to Te Aroha. There are about seventy tons altogether, which are to be forwarded to Melbourne for treatment. Accor ling o latest reports the concentrates are of a payable nature. f...,
