FOOTBALL.

The annual meeting of the Te Aroha Football Club took place last night in the Foresters’ Hall. There was a fairly representative gathering of both juniors and seniors. Mr W. Wilson was voted to the chair. The minutes of the last annual meeting were read and confirmed and the balance-sheet as rea 1 was adopted on the motion of Mr Lewis, seconded by Mr Leo. Shaw.

Mr Lewis asked for an explanation re the sum of ten shillings paid to the Union on behalf of two members.— The Secretary explained that each club was expected to pay five shillings for each man picked in a representative team ; the money to go towards the cost of the travelling expenses of the team.

Mr Lewis said that although he was not present at the Union meeting at which this arrangemeut was decided on, he expected it was all right. The balanco sheet showed receipts araountiug to £ls 9s 8d and expenditure £l2 2s 6d, leaving a credit balance of £3 7s 2d.

Close on eighty names of probable players were taken down for registra tion

The election of officers for the ensuing year resu’ted as follows : Matron: W. H. Herries, Esq. ; Presi dent: Dr Kenny; vlce-Presidents: Mesirs 0. F. Pilling. G. Lewis, J. Shaw, Tullock, E. H. Hardy, E. A. Power, Hardwick, By grave, Stanley, Baiue, Manson, Rowe, Gordon, Wallis,. Farmer, Mackay, Thomas, Beswick, Wallace, Ellis, Devey, Mclndoe, R, L. Somers; Management Committee : Messrs W. Wilson, Lewis, J, Heathcote, L. Shaw, and D. Currie ; Selector : Mr i>wis.

Mr Lewis said he thought it best for someone else to ac r as selector for the coining season ; he had no desire to retain 'he office. The Chairman said Mr Lewis bad always taken a lively interest in foot ball thro lghout this district, and said it would never do to turn their backs on the Club. —Mr Lewis was eventually prevailed upon to accept office. Delegates.—Messrs Lewis, D. Shaw, and W. Wilson were appointed delegates to the Union. Junior Fixtures. —It was resolved that the delegates urge upon the Union the advisability of arranging the junior fixtures at as early a date as possible. Colours ,—Decided that the colours be the same as last year—blue aud white. Practice.—lt was decided to commence practice at. once, every Thursday and Saturday afternoon. A vote of thanks to the Chairman closed the meeting.
