Hetherington and Go’s great clearing cash sale is progressing; enormous reduction. Mr A. W. Edwards has a six-roomed house with acre ground, planted with choice fruit trees, for sale ; also splendid residence site. Te Ai’oha District Co-operative Butter Factory commences operations shortly. Newly-elected Borough Councillors intend facing the lighting question at once. Mayor Farmer means businsss. Bishop Neligan visits Te Aroha on Tuesday next. Te Aroha-Waihou football match on the Recreation ground next Saturday; big game expected. ‘lnstead of complaining that the Rose has thorns, congralute yourself that the Thorn is decorated with Roses.’ We are all anxioiisl) r awaiting the Teurist Department to start operations in real earnest in connection with our baths and springs. Cardinal Sarto has boon elected Pope. It is proposed to -build a wharf at Kopu—a very suitable place indeed. The various lamp posts throughout the Borough would look much better if visited by a coat of paint. A local resideut intends purchasing a rastor car.
There are ever 30 applications for the position of Waihi borough engineer from ali parts of the colony. George Lang, of Christchuroh who out his hand witii a piece of manuka, has died from blood poisoning. Dr. Grace, the famous cricketer, is 55 years of age, and after nearly 10 years of cricket is still in the first flight. The other day he made his 121 th century in first class matches.
