Quarterly Meeting of the Wesleyan Methodist Church.

The Quarterly meeting of the Wes* leyap jMethodist Church was held in the |B6roa Church on Thursday, at 7 -o.m. There were present: —Eevs. S. Griffith (chairman), W. Bowie, and W. Beckett; Messrs W. Tetley, J . C. Allen, T. S. Allen, W. S. Allen, W. G . Devey, A. J. Leach, A. Tetley, A. Bear, J. ■ -mp Harding, Smith, J. Reid, HHHKirsVMiss Phillips, also Eev. and Mr Searle. The meeting was opened with sing* ing and prayer, after which the Chairman briefly welcomed Eev Tuck and Mr Searle, saying that the meeting was pleased to see them there, although they had no . vote, not being ■"members of the Quarterly meeting; he also stated it was the last meeting at which the Eevs Bowie and Beckett would be present; and that the Eev would be conducting misat Morrinsville on Easter v Monday. K The membership was reported as ■being 176 full members and 24 junior members, this was much the same as last quarter. Mrs Whitmore wrote asking the circuit to pay its share of the boundary fence along the section secured for a Church site, at Golden Cross, which she intended to erect. Eesolved that . the Circuit Stewards write to Mrs Whitmore on the matter. decided to give the Trustees Paeroa, Karangahake, Sunday’s collection ' Smer in aid of the Trust

Schools.—Te Aroha : Mr was increasing. Te Aroha letter was received from the Secretary stating that there were 19 children on the roll, with an average gtendance of 14. The School had 4 PBcbors ; a Bible Class was held every Wednesday night, and had 11 members, lacking a total of 34. Paeroa : Mr A. Tetley stated was in a flourishing condition and the attendance was increasing. Waihi : Rev W. Beckett stated was in a prosperous state, the attendance being the same as last quarter. Resolved that the Secretaries of the Sunday Schools be written to, requesting them to furnish a return similar to the one from Te Aroha

That as soon as an agent be secured, the Church be proceeded with ut Waitekauri, and that a suitable site be secured at Waikino. Rev Bi ckett reported one fresh subscriber to the * Advocate ’ at Waihi. A short report ,of the. Conference 'recently held in Auckland was given Rev S. Griffith and J. C. Allen. W Resolved that the following Society B Stewards be appointed : Morrins- ™ ville, .W. Pickett and F. Abbot; Manawaru, F. Lusby ; Golden Cross, J, E, _ Jebcoate ; Waikino, Eugene ullct." Resolved that the best thanks of the be given to Revs Bowie and Beckett for their work in the Circuit. The discussion, which was adjourned last Quarterly meeting to this, as to whether the incoming Minister should reside at Paeroa or Karangahake, was resumed, the Ministers took no part, saying they thought it best not to do so. Messrs Goldsworthy, J. C: Allen, Searle, Devey, W. Tetley, W. S. Allen, spoke in favour of the removal and .Messrs 4. ■ Tetley, J. Reid, Smith, and H. Lawn against it. , An amendment that the matter be deferred to the September Quarterly meeting was lost by 3 to 11 ; and it was carried that the minister reside at r Karangahake, the voting being 10 for, 6 against. Resolved that the next Quarterly meeting be held at Karangahake at 7.30 p.m on the last Thursday in June. The Chairman then pronounced the benediction and closed the meeting. m
