Matters in. connection with, the Mounted Company are- still in- the hands of the authorities, and their decision, is anxiously looked for by the men..
Notice has Been received by the T.R.Y. that the Easter- Encampment for No. 2 Battalion will be held, at One Tree ' Hill. At present it does not appear as if the district will be represented at the Camp, neither by Infan try or Mounted Company.
The-non> corns of the T.R.V. are requested to meet together as often as possible and receive instructions in outpost work-
The annual' match between- the TeAroha Riffles an <T Thames- Navals will take place shortly. The Shooting Committee will meet together on Saturday evening to fix the date and select the steam. The visiting foam will be accompanied by their Band,, so that a rare- musical treat is- in store for Te Aroha- residents. A combined Church parade- will' probably take place- on ( the Sunday, morning.. GONE: ASTRAY OR LOST. Sixty-seven aien for- the Fif.li Contingent under Captain Major and Lieut. Potter,, arrived at Wellingtonfrom Mas erton at mid-day on Saturday. The contingent, by some mistake, were sent overland via Master<ton-, and: this necessitated camping out at Masterton. Mr Jackson Palmer, M.H.R.,. who is ih Wellington-, wired Mr Hogg, M.H.R., of . the intended arrival- at Masterton,. where the- company was met by a brass band, and received and entertained 1 ,, and the horses detrained and' retrained by the people- there. The Contingent are grateful for the Masterton reception. Wheu they arrived at Wellington the camp was flooded, and the contingent’s arrival was unexpected. Mr Palmer saw the Minister and: Sir Arthur Douglas,, and the contingent eampe 1 down under the railway out of the rain, until it was arranged that they get into the Defence- stores building,.
