LICENSING ELECTION.
The polling day for the election of vho Licensing Committee for the Ohinemuri. Electorate has been, fixed for Thursday,. March 29th, this day week.. Wo learn -that, the following are beingnominated as a ‘ People’s Committee,’ perfectly free from all complicity with the ‘ Trade,’ and pledged to impartially administer the licensing laws, and to safeguard as far as possible the-inter-ests of the community, viz., John Edie Taylor, WaihiHenry William Moore Waihi; Thomas James Stanley, Ivarangahake ; William Forrest, Paeroa ; Joseph Lewis Walton, Thames. In view of the powers of the Licensing Committee, especially in the matter of new liet-nses, it seems eminently de 'sirable that such a committee as the above should bo elected, and' we advise electors to take ; parefuL note of the above names, ; ;
