THE THEATROPHONE.
The eagerly looked for Theatrophone* billed to play in Te Aroha on Thursday, March 15th; eventuated in thePublic Hall; Mr A.. H. Whitihouse,, in charge.-. A fairly lhrge audience witnessed the exceedingly good and 1 , interesting performance. The opening; picture thrown on the sheet by the* Kinematograph was a sea-beach view„ with rollers breaking on the shore,, while an occasional glimpse of. a. dog--could he seen enjoying a bath in thespray; same being- very realistic indeed. A great number of views wereshown, interspersed by.selections from* - the Theatrophone, those worth special. mention are: Cornet solo by Mr TiS£ vemi,.of Grey mouth, which, was beautifully rendered, caused great applause,. also ‘Rocked in the Cradle, of theDeep,! comet and picciolo solo, Maori: imilatiug different, birds,. aud selection by a baud, were clearly and 1 sweetly produced, and were alone- ‘ worth the money; The vi- w- puling;" down the Spanish flag and replacing; ,the Union Jack-(lasting some twelve* minutes), was watched with delight,, the horses, etc., showing out to perfection ; while those of the ‘New York; fire brigade on duty at a burning building,’ ‘The Dining Table.’ and-, ‘ The* Man who had a drop too much,’ could! not bo surpassed.. During the even— } ing Mr A ; H.. Wbitohouso, otfietivvPp? rendered the piece entitled ‘ Break theNews to Mother,’, Miss Bo.:ten,. of Te* Aroha, playing the accompaniment iu.» a finished manner..
