Arrangements for the Ngaruawahia Maori Aquaric Carnival are nearly compl te, and the official programme is now in the hands of ths printers. The fact, that large-entries have beon received for the various Maori events indicates that the Natives take keen interest in this monster annual function. The Co mini too are in communication with King Mahuta and there is every likelihood of his magnificient war canoe of unparalleled beauty, in full war paint and feathers, leading off the picturesque canoe parade. This ovont oper.s the programme punctually at 12.30 p.m., and vlabor.-; are warned m>t to- miss this fine spectacle, as about, 20 canoes take part. The chase for a bride will be an enteresting feature and a.white crew of Ngaruawaliia young men have sworn to carry olf the dusky beauty, lne Auckland Rowing Club- still maintain a lively interest in the day’s sport and 22 entries have been received fiOiu them, against, 18 last year. A large field of competitors face the starter in tho mounted swimming race across the Waikato river. The train arrangements are perfect and a monster attendance is anticipated.
