(From own Correspondent.) *■ CHEMIST FINED;. Wellington, Yesterday. The S.M. to-day fined Orr, chemist, 20e> and coats, on a charge under the Offensive Publications Act.. The ease was not an intentional one, therefore only a nominal fine was inflicted. BODY FOUND. Wellington, March 9. The dead body of the Rev Gilbert, of Phillipstown, near Christchurch,, was found in the harbour yesterday afternoon. The- deceased gentleman was a married man, aged 60. He leaves a widow and family in Christchurch, FRAUDLENT BANKRUPT. , A-ttorland, Last night. At the Supreme Court to-day Chas Grant Daley, who on Friday last j pleaded guilty to three chargos, was i placed in the dock for sentence. The sentence was that he be imprisoned for 18 calendar months on each charge, , sentences to be cumulative. In the other indictment of giving undue pre- • ferenee to one,' Joesph Ehnaaan-, the . jury returned a verdict of not guilty. INQUEST ON BODY OF INFANT Auckland,, Last night. At the adjourned inquest on the • body of the infant found in a sack in the Roman Gathoho cemetery, Sy monds ; Street, last week, was continued this afternoon. The jury returned an open verdict, to the effect that the infant had been found dead, and that there was »o- evidence as to how it eame by : its death.
