The room of 'he bank agrnt in the hotel was entered and the keys of the s'rong room and safe were taken from his pocket whi'e asleep. The police expect to effect an early arrest, MOUNTED INFANTRY Wellington, Feb. 19. A man named Patrick Car w wm picked up in the street with his head knocked about. He had since died. A man named Martin has been arrested, charged with being implicated. It is supposed the affair was the result of a row in the early hours of the morning. Greymoittii, Yesterday. With ref -rence to the dea'h of Carew, it appears that both he and Martin were in liquor and fought Shortly after Carew left the hotel, and was found later on unconscious, with a scalp wound. He died at nine on Saturday morning, and at the inqu- st a verdict that death was caused by a fracture of the skull was returned But it is improbable that it was due to a blow. It is likely the fracture was caused by deceased fabing on the pavement. Martin was arrested, and charged wi ll murder, but was remanded till Tuesday.
