Common and rough or superfine, From city or hill or fen : Lads from the bustle of London town, Lads from the villages, up and down, Brother or son Called to the gun, Marshalled in might, Eager to fight; Ready to conquer, in storm or shine, Fortified steep or treacherous glen. Hats off to the fighting line, A hundred thousand men !
Pet tenderness seek the dust, Among the souls that sleep; Glut, men, in the bloody trust And drink a vengeance deep. Country and Queen and an Empire’s weal, Call on true valour and hearts of steel. Up with the flag J Boulder or crag, .
