N-.Z. LOAN A MERCANTILE AGENCY CO. (LTD.) Cattle.—At the Newmarket yards on Tuesday cattle of all descriptions were yarded in average numbers. Dairy and scores sold at late rates; beef of good quality was firmer than last week. We quote fat oxen from 17s to 19s per 1001 b ; cows 14s to 16s por lOOlbs. Fat steers were from- £5 10s to £8 12s 5d " r do- oows £3- l*§s to £5 2s 6-1; dairy cows brought from £3 5s to £6 ss. At Prikekohe oa- Wednesday dairy and store cattle were yarded numerously and met a ready sale at fully Newmarket rates. Sheep.—Were well represented at Novvmarket on Tuesday and in steady demand. Wethers sold at from 8s 3d to 138, ewes 8s 9d to 12s 6d, mixed sexes 8s 6d to 12s 6d ; lnmLs, plentiful, sold at from 7s to 10s 6d.
Horse-hair,—ls 4d t\ Is s£d per lb. Tails,—2s per dozen.
