The loss caused by the Petone fire is now computed to be £13,000, half of which, is' covered by insurance.. £2OOO worth of chemicals were saved. The absence-of a.water supply assisted in the destruction of the premises..
WOMAN MISSING.
Palmerston North, Yesterday
An, elderly woman named Westerholm, has been missing from her home since Wednesday, evening, and-'is sup : - posed, to- have been drowned.. She left a letter announcing;her intentions of committing suicide- owing to despondenoy-, caused by the death, of her husband some-months ago. She has a family of five ohildren and the letter contains details as to the disposal of properly for their benefit. The Police are searching the river.
