Lieutenant Scott notifies in our advertising columns that all volunteers who do not attend camp will bo fined. It is further announced that district medal-; will be fired for at ‘he Paoroa range on Saturday, the 17th instant. The present, high price of sheep is evidently a temptation to the sheep stealer, who has developed a weakness for prime Canterbury lambs. Earlier in the season Mr J. W. Overton lost about 15 lambs that were just ready for the market, and the other day he hud' 30 more stolen, and these were to t have been sent to the Addington saleyards the following day. The first in- 1 ' timation Mr Overton had of his second loss was on finding a mob of ewes returning home along the road without their lambs. Evidently the ewes and lambs had t eo i driven away together, the lambs drafted out and (lie mothers then turned adrift to find their way back to their owner. A similar Lss is reported from Rakaia. The Edison Knmm itograph Company will give their popular and patriotic programme of ‘ Tho Boer War’ in Smardon’s Hall, on Saturday and Monday, February 10 and 12, and judging by its success elsewhere, it is a splendid entertainment. Living pictures of exciting incidents in the war, and such troops as tho Black Watch, Cfordon Highlanders, Jack Tars, etc., will be well received at tho present time, and the film of the embarkation of tho Colonial Contingent is a fine clear one. The marvellous Colossophone will render patriotic and military songs and music. This is Edison’s latest triumph, and produces music and song as loud as th? original. The whole programme forms a - grand patriotic entertainment, and must be seen to be appreciated.
