Transvaal War Fund Committee.

A mretixg of the Committee was held in the Domnin office on Tuesday night, when, there were present: —Messrs Mills. Wright, McGregor, Crombio, and Hill (secretary). In the absence of the Mayor Mr Mills was voted to the chair.

Tho Secretary explained that he had written to the proprietors of the Cinematograph show, hilled to appear in the town on Saturday night—the same night as the Concert, and"- suggested that in the interests of both schemes, some arrangement should be come to. Tho agent for the Company' was in attendance at the meeting, and reported that his principals had wired him to say they' could not put off their Saturday night’s entertainment, but that, if the Commitfeo would postpone their gala night, they (the Auckland people) would give a sacred Concert (with views) on Sunday night, and would devote all tho proceeds to tho Fund.

After some discussion, the Committee decided that as they had gone so for with their arrangements, they* could not seo their way' to withdraw, so that the entertainment will be given on Saturday' night in the Domain. as oiiginaily intended, and advertised.

The following worn appointed to assist at tho gates on Saturday night. Messrs S. L. Hirst, A. J. Burton, Jno. White, D. Pearson, and Mclnman.

Mr McGregor stated that Mr T. Allen, who sang at the big patriotic meeting in Auckland, was at present on a visit to Te Aroha, and, if well cn-ugh, would sing ‘The Absent Minded Beggar,’ and ‘ Britons Brave and True,’ at tho Concert. It is expected that some 200 or 300 Chine so lanterns for illumination purposes will arrive on Friday, and Mr Wright promised f > donate portion of the necessary' caudles, or all of thorn, if nood be.

In arranging a function like this a gr at amount of work necessarily' requires to be done, and when some people aro giving their timo and labour freely and willingly, it is lmidly fair t-jmf all the burden should be borne by them. There is plenty to do, and a few volunteers would bo very acceptable* If anymno fools dispos d t<> help, and will apply to Messrs Crnmbie, Mills, or Pavi t, who have charge of the median cd arrangements. 'hose genibnion will ba glad to indicate in what direction their services can be utilised.
