During the evening the cu-t mery leasts were pr-'poed and duly respond d lo,.that of the guest of the evening being drank wth musical honours. The chairman and several other pi I 'sent referred to tlie many quali ios of Mr R ss, and while regretted his depnr urc, congratn’ated him on liis piomotion. Mr Ross briefly r- sponded. Te Aroha, Jail. 26th, 1900. Mr Ross was. on f he m rning of his departure on Saturday the recipient of of a number of valuable pre sents. Mr A. AY. Kirton, relieving ’officer, is at present in charge at Te Aroha, pending the arrival of Mvßackley, of Ch istchu'-ch, who has hern app ited siationmaster at Te Aroha.
