TE AROHA JOCKEY CLUB.
A meeting of the above Club was Held ; in tjie Grand Ho'tel on Tuesday eveningl last. Present: •W: H, Herries, M.H.R. (in the chair), Messrs Pavitt,' A. TV. Edwards, Tljomas, Mills, C. B. Edwards, Ferguson, J. Rowe, Luxford, O’Meagher, Jackson, 8. L. Bygrave, Smardon and J.Rennick (secretary). --The minutes of previous meeting were read and confirmed. Correspondence. Resignation of Messrs Bren an and Pilling as Stewards were received. Mr;Ferguson proposed and Mr Pavitt seconded, that their resignations be accepted. •-- Excursion Fares, p- The Secretary reported that he had accepted the proposals offered by thh Railway Department. The action Of the ‘Secretary .was, confirmed. /.Advertising.—From the Ohinemuri Gazette asking share of advertising. Letter received.
The Secretary was authorised to make arrangements for advertising excursion, fares in local papers. Band.—A committee consisting of Messrs Mills, Bygrave and Secretary was appointed to make terms with the local Band for playing at the meeting. Sale of Privileges.—lt was decided to offer by auction the Gates, Grand Stand and Saddling Paddock, Pub lican’s Booth, Refreshment Booth, Fruit Stall and Cu-ds. Mr Edwards and the Secretary were appointed to draw, up conditions of sale of privileges. Coach Charges.—-Mr Smardon proposed and Mr O’Meagher seconded, that a charge of five shillings per day be made for each coach to the course. ' Carried. It was decided thatfall coaches plying for hite should go in to and out of the course at the back gate. Works Committee.—Messrs Rowe, O’Mo > gher and Jackson were appointed a Works Committee,, and were empowered to employ two men each day to put up and take down hurdles as required. Pony Measurement. —Mr C. B. Edwards was appointed to measure ponies not holding A.R.C certificates.
Ambulance Stretcher.—The Works Committee was authorised' to procure an ambulance stretcher. Debt. Arrangements were made for payment of interest owing by the Time-keeper.—Mr F. Lipsey was appointed official time-keeper. Bookmakers’ Fee.—The bookmakers’ fees were fixed at five guineas for the privilege of betting at the meeting. Totalisator Clerkv The appointment of totalisator clerk was left for Secretary to arrange. Office.—Mr O’Meagher offered the use of Town Hall for Jockey Club Office on days of meeting. The offer was accepted. * si---—' ’ Ladies’ Tickets.—-It was decided that a lady’s ticket he issued with each member’s ticket, and the price of admission for ladies to Grandstand be reduced to half-a crown. It was decided to issue complimentary tickets to Secretaries of Racing Clubs, local doctors, and press. A V' >to .of thanks to the chair closed the meeting. .
