A practice match will be played in Mr paddock this afternoon. The team picked to represnt Te Aroha in the match against -Morjgtisville on. Saturday next are ufeicularly -requested to roll up. < On the subject of the proposed presentation of a banner to the Thames Rugby Union, the Advertiser says;: ‘As Mr Aitken very properly points out, the present would be a.most opportune time to present the banner to the Union, and‘Auckland, 1897-1898’ would be an appropriate start for the inscriptions, and the victories scored on each oecasionfby the Thames reps, being most meritorious and exceedingly popular. We tiust tht.t the proposal will be taken up without delay, and have not the slightest doubt that the 400 shillings will be cheerfully emtributed by the public, who have shown, such commendable enthusiasm over the recent splendid achievement of our 1 Thames boys ’ in the football - arena.’
