School Committee .

A meeting of-the Committee was held in the school-room od Monday night,, when there were present : Messrs Gilchrist (chairman), Wallace, Mackie, Stanley, and Hill (secretaiy). A copy of petition promoted by the Eltham School.Committed,'urging that Inspectors should iJsfcibe more than two years in one district, was received for signature. This Committee decided that they could not subscribe to the prayer of the petition. ; There being a sum of £5 .odd available for the purchase of books for tho library, it was remitted to Messrs GT\ christ, Maisdon and Hill to prepare a list of books to. be purchased.

The Head Teacher’s report on the work of the various teachers was submitted, also the attendance returns. In conveying this decision to Mr Wild, the secretary was instructed to inform him that the Committee were willing to allow him the use of a blackboard and easel for purpose of illustrating lectures.

Messrs Stanley and MacFe were appointed Works Committee f>r the ensuing month. The secretary wrg instructed to write the Board of' Education asking them to forward 8 barrels of tar, in order that the paths can get a fresh coating when the season comes round again.
