Borough Council .

A special meeting was held on Fri day evening last, when there were present : His Worship the Mayor (Mr James Mills), and Councillors Edwards, Hirst, Wallace, Gallagher, O’Meagher and Bygrave. Before the meeting commenced Mr Snewin, Glolk to the Town Board, handed over the books and papers of the Town Board to the Mayor, and got a receipt from him for the various vouchers and documents, after which the meeting. It was decided that Mr Pavitt be appointed Borough Engineer at 5 per cent commission on all work done. The water-works scheme was discussed at some length, and it was agreed that all the Councillors should visit the proposed sites for the reser voir, with Mr Pavitt. A letter was. received from Mr Gilchrist" in which he advised that the Council had power to al er or amend the Burgess Roll at any time, and that the present bye-laws could be adopted by the Council by special resolution.
