TE AROHA TOWN BOARD.

A special and last meeting of the Te Aroha Town Board was held on Monday evening in the Domain offices. Present : Corns Gavin (chairman), Mackie, Gallagher, Knock, and Bygrave. . The Chairman stated the meeting had been called for the purpose of settling all the outstanding accounts of the Board. The following were presented and passed for payment: —P. Gilchrist £l2 5s 7d; P. Baiue £lO 14$; R. Michael £7 14s; Wright 14s; McKenna" 14s; R. Parr £6 8s 9d; R Parr £5 3s 9d ; Stark 7s; Times £l 13s; Devey 18s; Johnson £1 15s lid ; Snewin* & Co. £l ss; West 14s ; Robsod 5s 6d; Pavitt £1 10s; Lawn JLI 3s sd. Com Bygrave moved a hearty vote of thanks to the Chairman for the able and courteous manner in which he had discharged his duties during his term of office on the Town aud Domain Boards, and expressed regret at not seeing him amongst those who shortly would undertake the conduct of municipal affairs. This was seconded by Com Mackie and carried.

In replying, Mr Gavin cordially thanked his colleagues for their hearty vote of thanks, and stated the pleasure he hal comtu.ty felt in transacting the Board’s business wi h the members. On looking back on their administration, he thought they could all feel proud of their sojourn on the Board, when thinking of the many improvements which had been perfected. Financially, the Board was. sound, as after paying all liabilities they were handing to their successors £2OB Os 9d. He also took this uppoitunity to thank Mr Snewin for the able manner in which he had cared for the interests of the Board, and referred to jthe great help he had often found him in assisting and guiding him through many of the intricacies of his position.

Mr Gotz, on behalf of the Press of Te Aroha, begged to thank the Chairman aud Commissioners for the courtesy they had always extended to Press representatives, and referred to the confidence the members evidently placejjrdfftfieir discretion, as he could not remember one single occasion when the Board had gone iDto Committee and asked the Press to retire. He hoped their successors would be as courteous in the future as the present Board had been in the past.
