Sir, < — I hear a lot about various ‘ tickets ’ which are being run for the election to-day, and there is one combination which the electors should carefully watch. Certain candidates at e going into the Council with the avowed intention of being in opposition to the mayor. This is so contemptible, that I sincerely hope’ they will be severely left alone..? They ought to be ashamed of themsfdyes. If they are elected, they may rest assured that their actions in the Council-.will be carefully watch© 1. Now that the mayor has been elected in a fair fight, he ought to get all reasonable support. I hope all lovers of fair play will see to this.—l am etc,,, " A EemAlE Elector.
[We think that our correspondent must have overstated the case, but wo have every confidence that the electors will, irrespective of ticket, put in the men best qualified to act as Councillors, -Ed. } ' ' ’ ;
