At the Police Court on Tuesday last Thomas George Gibson, of Waihou, labourer, was charged that he did on or about the 16th April, 1898, at Waihou, near Te Aroba, break and enter the store of Edward M. Hemphill, and steal therefrom one iron safe containing four one-pound notes, three sovereigns, one half-sovereign, about £3 in silver, and about 100 coppers, the property of the said Edward M. HempbilL Evidence for the prosecution was given by Messrs Hemphill (storePilling (hotelkeeper), and Buchan of Waihou, and; Constable Forbes.
