The Waihou Safe Robbery
At the Paeroa Police Court, on Mon-
day, George Gibson was charged with breaking into and entering upon th<premises of Edward Hemphill, of the Wajhou post office and grocery store, and carryiug a way therefrom one iron safe containing four £1 notes, three sovereigns, one half-sovereign in silver, and aboJs&l00 coppers. On the application,of the "police the accused was remanded to Te Aroha, |o- answer the charge on the ITfch inst. The accused was suspected of being; implicated in the robbery, ‘and whs followed by Constable Forbes of Te Aroha, and arrested at Paeroa. When the suspected burglar; w.as>brought to (the station, his- swag was a&arehed, when a large portion of the missing booty was found therein,.
