Post Office at Te Aroha West
For some time past an agitation has been going on for the establishment of a Post Office to serve the Te Aroha West and Manawnru districts. A numerously signed petition to that effect was forwarded to the Chief Postmaster, Thames, by Mr A. J. Farmer, and the following reply was received : Chief Post Office, Thames, 11th April, 1898. A. J. Parmer, Esq. and others, Manawaru, Te Aroha. Gentlemen, —I beg to acknowledge receipt of your application for establishment of a Post Office at Manawaru. You will be advised later on as to the result of your application —I have the honor to be, gentlemen, your obedt. servant, J. Aitken, Acting Chief Postmaster. We understand Mr Clough has been asked to report on the number of families likely to be served by such a Post Office. We wish our friends every success in their efforts to get in their district, what will be an undoubted convenience. /
