ON TE AROHA ENTERPRISE.

(To the Editor!) Iris quit© amusing to see the frantic : efforts of our young - cha-ps in various ways. A boating club, with boats ; rotting for want of using; a football . rough and tumble,; is about their weight now. I have thought what splendid material there is about if well directed, and combined, in the bundle of sticks, is strength. There is the Volunteer movement, the Improvement, i Gymnastie, and Agricultural Society. Now to my plodding mind all these show a vast latent strength in the young blood of this rising district of Te Aroha, in Maori the Mother of Love and Gold. If we only follow the advice so well given by Rev Mr Campbell to love and help on the other, what could we not do ? Let all join hands and energy to build on© large hall for the use of the aforementioned societies. It- should be near the Pound and on the river bank if possible, so that swimming, boating, marching, agriculturism, and all other pursuits that tend to make men of mark and muscle, nerve and power, such as our common country may seme day need. I am; etc., , ; . .. .... Clodhopper.

P-8, —Like the ladies, I must add a postscrip, unless you have less valuable space than I have this wet day. I believe no training is better adapted than that of arms to make manly men. Men at once courteous, enduring especially when combined with cultivation of flowers; fruit and'corn, and the patience to debate the affairs of mankind and fit to stand with the few of our race, who shall some day be called to face the word in aiuns.
