Hamilton Races.
The above races were run on Saturday last, there being a fair number of spectators present. The course was in excellent condition, the rain which fell the previous day having had a beneficial effect. The fields were large and the finishes close. Mr L. Cussen officiated as judge, and *Mr A. J. Storey as starter. The following are the results : Trial Handicap, seven furlongs.— Syren 1; The Needle 2 ; Retreat 8. Won by a short head. Dividend £5 14s. Handicap Hurdles, If miles.— Voltiguer 111 j Nellie 2; Kingswood 3. Won easily. Dividend £2. South Auckland Cup, 1-f miles,— Porangi Potae 1 j Bonnie Blue 2; Royal Conqueror 3. Won by two lengths. Dividend £3 18s. Pony Race, six furlongs.—Bob I ; Mavourneen 2 ; Winnie 3. Won easily. Dividend £1 6s. Handicap Steeples. Magpie 1; Flukem 2. These were the only two that finished. Magpie fell at the double, Cingalee and Forella baulked at the back of the course, thus leaving Flukem to take a commanding lead, butjin the last round he made a mistake in the course, Magpie winning as he liked. Dividend 18s.* Claudelands Handicap, 1 mile.— Bonnie Blue 1; Royal Conqueror 2. Won by a head. Dividend £1 3s. Handicap Trot, 2$ miles.— Ruby 1; Harry 1; Lusitania 3. Won easily Dividend £5. Flying. Handicap, 5 furlongs.— Complete 1; The Owl 2. Won by half a-length. Dividend £25.
