Public Meeting.

A meeting was hold in the Public Hall on Tuesday evening last to consider Certain action recently taken by the Hot Springs Domain Beard re man- - agement of baths. The attendance was meagre. Mr S. T. Smardon, as convenor, was voted to the chair, and read t:i». d n the paper calling the meeting, which read—“ A meeting will held in the Public Hall on Tuesday 15th inst„ to consider the action taken by the le Aroha %ot Springs Domain .Board, altering fife hours during which Hthe baths should be kept open. lbe chairman stated that the action taken, calling the meeting, was the outcome of an influential private meeting to consider the matter referred to, and lie would like these present to give expression to their feelings on the subject, so that something tangible might be done, Personally he thought the Board had made a great mistake in changing the hours. He mentioned numbers of people came to Te Aroha on Tuesdays from the Uhinemuri goldfields, Morrinsville, etc. to take advantage of the baths, and were disappointed to find them closed, The chairman< thought the caretakers hours should be considered, but was strongly of opinion the welfare of Te Aroha ps a sanatorium should be the first consideration, fhe meeting, the Chairman explained, was not called in opposition to the Domain Board, but merely to request them to reconsider their decision-in the matter. .He then asked any of those- present interested to express their opinion. After a short discussion, during which numerous resolutions and amendments were put and withdrawn, it was ultimately resolved, on the motion of Mr Gilchrist, seconded .by Mr Parr, that a deputatian, consisting of Messrs Smardon, Gotz and Dobson, wait on the Boartd, A vote of thanks to the Chairman brought the meeting to a close.
