A MAN MISSING.
An old man, says the Argus, named Alexander Delley, better known as ‘ Old Alec,’ has been missing since Friday night last, when he was seen opposite Mr Jones’ saddler’s shop, in Victoria-street, Hamilton, at about 10 p,m., making his, way in the direction of the Hamilton West Railway Station. He had been in the employ of Mr E. de O. Drury, of Cludelands, for some months past, but having absented himself at Christmas time, he fell into disgrace with his employer, who on Thursday last discharged him. The missing man had been in the habit of crossing the railway bridge at night, a risky proceeding even for a sober man, but a highly dangerous one for anyone under the influence of liquor, as the missing man is reported to have been by the last party who saw him. Naturally, under these circumstance much anxiety is felt. The matter has been reported to the police, who at a late hour last night had failed to glean any later trace of the missing man. Any information concerning the missing man will be gladly received by the police.
