Sea Water's maximum Warmth

A series of observations made at Peterhead show that the summer warmth penetrates the sea very gradually. The sea water attains its maximum warmth only at the end of August. Prom that time it becomes warmer than the air. The moral "is that bathing is more dangerous on the warm of early summer than on chilly days in the late autumn. The sea is as warm-at. the end of October as it is in the middle of June, and the period between these dates may be taken as the normal bathing season.
