ALLEGED. SALTING OF A MINE
Adelaide, Decomber 24. In connection with the alleged salting of the Angipena mine a miner named Rogers has been charged with fraudently representing to the promoters that certain stone at the* mine contained gold. The prosecution undertook to prove that Rogers, assisted by a man named Fitzßatrick system a t ically planted gold in the shaft for the purpose of deluding the purchasers into the belief, that thereof would yield two or three ounces per ton, whereas it was valueless. ' r . . . / A-COMET.' „ . Adelaide, December 24. A beautiful comet has been observed >kere, almost as large as a star of the hrst magnitude. It is very clear, but only visible for a few hours. It has also been seen' by Melboui-ne observers. It is supposed to be identical with the comet discovered at the Lick Observatory on November 19.
