■ SODDEN DEA.THMbs Mary Cocks, widow of the late Mr James Cocks, died very suddenly at about 9.30 o’clock on Wednesday morning, at her residence, Walters street. The deceased lady had been ailing for some time with heart disease, but had been able to get .about as usual right up to the last. On Wed nesday morning she’ complained of feeling unwell to a neice who resided with her, and the latter at onoe proceeded for assistance,! but before the doctor arrived Mrs Cocks had passed S. Both the deceased and her rod came to the Thames soon after it Was opened as a goldfield. Death of mrs radeord. For some time past general anxiety has been manifested in the welfare of Mrs Thomas Bafiford, wife of the Mayor. Some ten days ago she had a very severe attack of asthma, from Which there fas a partial recovery, but during the last few days indications of a relapse were manifest, and eventually pneumonia supervened, which terrain ated in her death on Tuesday night The. deceased lady , was .one who did not take any very active part in any public movement, devoting her time and attention principally to the Wei fare of her numerous family, but as a neighbour she was of a most kindly disposition, and ever willing to do her utmost to assist those in need. Her bereaved husband and family have the sympathy of the whole community in their irreparable loss.
