ORDINARY MEETING. The ordinary monthly meeting of the above Council took place in the Council Chambers, Morrihsville, on Wednesday last. Present: Crs. Ch.epm.ell (in the chair), McCaw, Browne, Gavin, Allen, Herries, Hodgson and Hunt. Minutes of previous meeting were read and confirmed ■ - Pigs at Waiouongomai.—A number of complaints having been received from residents of-Waiorongomai, relative to the damage being done to footpaths, etc., by pigs being allowed to run" at waVTesSlved that letters be sent to Messrs Cookson, Moriarity, and Murphy, re this matter. Annual Census. —From. Ohinemuri County Council, asking the Council to urge upon the Government the necessity to take the census this year, as usual The Chairman pointed out that this matter was agreed to : be done. • . v Northcroft’s Road. This is a me tter which has been up before the Council repeatedly for the last two or three years, being-ja claim f r compensation for land taken for a.road through Mr Northcroft s'property, and without the consent of the owner. ‘Mr Northcroft claims some Ll4O for damage done to his land, .-etc. —The - CoujaCtl agreed on the motion of Chairniau, seconded by Cr Allen, that the sum of £60 i be offered as a' settlement, being £2O * above the amount originally granted. Would like to- he- granted a man to assist me during the next month. • Geo.Wattam, northern portion of county reports :—Have been busy during the past month fixing cuttings, and bridges and cutting down pines on Thames-Waikato road, and also filling in holes, etc. The bridge near Waitoa sale yards need several wings erected and also repaired, the sheathing needs placing lower down as soon as the water subsidies, so as to enable work' to be carried out. Te Aroha-Lichfield road There, has been a good deal oj damage done since last meeting, stoney creek bridge being washed down and several approaches damaged more or less all along the road. There is about chains -of road leading to the battery, in a bad state of repair. A circular was received from the Rangitiki Couuty Council, pointing out some reasons why the local Government was unsatisfactory. From Under-Secretar3 r , stating there was no funds available to accede to request made by Couucil re widening rbad west of Te Aroha railway bridge. Crs Herries, Hodgson and Gavin were appointed a, deputation to Wait -on Ihe Mi nister of Railways relative to this matter, during his visit to To Arpha in ppunection with "opening of To Aroha-Paeroa railway. Horse Sold.—Geo. Taylor, leasee of Waiorongomai tramway, communicated with Council informing them he had sold one of the tram horses for £7. . '• •

From E. Martin complaining of certain gates erected by manager of M atamata estate, across roads.—Letter received. .

J. S. Bond wrote asking Council that he receive a fair share of County advertising.—Mr Bond being present, tho Chairma n explained to him there were no special arrangements made with regard to Couuty advertising, but he Had no doubt he would receive a'fair share. The matter of where the' advertisements were inserted was generally left ip the handsef the Executive.
