A light bridge thrown across the river near lsourke, bydney, impeded the traffic, on the river, and prevented the river steamer passing. The captajn of the steamer requested the contractor to remove the obstruction, but the latter stated the structure had been handed over to the Government, and he declined, to interfere in the matter. The' captain thereupon attached a tow line to one of the supports of the bridge, and unceremoniously hauled the whole structure down, and when the debris had been washed away he quietly proceeeded on hiß journey.
