MURDER AND SUICIDE. ... . Melboubne, November 16. sad tragedy : is .reported froiu the South. A single woman, Catherine Tait, was found hangingin a bathroom in the house in w“hieh she was lodging. Her twelve-months-old child was found smothered in bed. She left a letter stating she had smothered her darling. If the father of the" child had given her his name the tragedy would never have happened. The wound in the woman’s neck showed she had first made a determined attempt to cut her throat with a knife and scissors.
