It is believed '.that the'reeent'/riots iq Constantinople,have .seriously embarrassed the Powers who are urging upon the Porte reforms in Armenia. The various embassies have demanded protection for foreign residents, and urge the Sultan to restore order; also that the police who are said to have taken part in murders be punished.
The Porte is alarmed and the Turkish quarters are guarded nightly to prevent the exit of the Softas who are accused of the worst excesses. Twelve hundred Armenians have 'been imprisoned. ;• i The Standard’s Berlin correspondent wires that conclusive proofs were found on the prisoners that the English only fostered the rising.

The Turks have given lip 123 bodies of the viotims of the riots for burial. The remainder were thrown into the Basphorus. r The Ambasfadirs have ordered guardships to anchor in the harbour in readiness for any emergency. ■ • The .Armeuian Patriarch has furnished a list of 500 killed. The grounds of the British Embassy are orowdod with refugees.
