•1 library wants a little attention and new volumes added. As the library is the property of the public it might not be out of place for us to suggest a moans by which a fund could be inaugurated for the purchase of new books from time to 1 ime as required. The popular books have been read and re-read by the regular subscribers to the library‘funds, and they are so ancient that the'visitors .wjllnot look at them ; f what they lequire is up-to-date fiction and romance, with a sprinkling.of solid matter thrown in. If a series of monthly entertainments could be arranged for during- the tourist season, the proceeds of which would be devoted to the above object, we would secure the help of visitors, and thus provide pleasurable pastime and att he same tinm considerably improve 1 our library. .Then again collecting boxes for the fund might be kept in the reading-room and other public places of the township. By such means' as we have suggested, together with ’ tho! revenue derived from the library, it v couldbe made attractive and •useful. . ! .j t
