*' He that calletb a thing into his mind • whether by impression or/ecorda-t-ion, eogitateth and tfonsidereth ; • nnd he that employeth the faculty ' of his fancy also eogitateth.” —Lord Bacon.
There is something iu the air just now which affects us all, but what it just is may not be particularly dofiued. The tongues of people are - talking a lot about a boom which is a-coming which is to work miracles, and make us all rich. Not confined to greyheads and leading citizens alone, but the boys are even speculating like their fathers. The fact iB we in Te Aroha are immensely well-off, but have never reulised the fact as yet. Nature has been busy for centuries creating a goodly, heri age for us fellows, but beyond an idle dream of sudden wealth for somebody else our speculation has not gone further. Gold, the real yellow article, has been abundantly shed in a thousand hills hereabouts, and the set time has come for its resurrection. We have had a few signs of this discovery during the year and our hopes and expectations have been raised. And they are to be immeasurably confirmed just about now. 0 - ; tV- # #

The boom as they call it i« a misnomer. If you put money into the mountain range you got it back again -with a thousand per cent. They are doing it at Waihiand Waitekauri, and other, places where - the oracle is mechanically and practically performed. And because these banks and braes of our. mountain range speak when spoken to, and part with the precious metal at the prospectors’ nod, so great is the surprise and speculation of folks that they call it a boom. There is no boom in this matter at all but such a revelation place that the eyes of the world will yet concentrate on the marvels of our wealth ! The way the oracle* is worked by

mate and natural way. When at school itl cost many a pound to get education, and the same principle's at work. The cost of machinery and implements and so forth must first come to our aid,: and the public must provide the necessary. When they do it, themit is but a short time before the returns come in, and dividends will be as common; as calis by and bye. It is our business just now to set - our. claims in. order, and the nest business belongs to the broker, after that gentleman has “ fetched ” the money our mines ,will soon open their bosoms, and the old Te Aroha mountain will yield its hearts blood for us, and that', immediately.-' . ; .
