MINING.
The sbaremarkefc in Auckland during has l e m fairly brisk and numerous transactons in several stocks are recorded. No doubt tho auctioneers who are selling shares by auction are diverting business from the exchange, but the market as a whole is maintained. There is a great run on Owharoas, as the prospects of. this large area are very good: • Regarding local stocks, Cadman’s and the Palace and Loyalty’s are in much favour, and we expect to see these properties taken into hand by the foreign capitalist ere long. Tho Golden Crown and Starlit Dell claims are to be floated when some preliminary work now undertaken is completed. Thepuhlic'are not very anxious at present to buy up promoter’s shares. Mining generally will settle down to a firm, steady, but not sensational eondtion. Investors will then not realize quickly, but we believe the investment in good stock will well" repay those who hold on. Then will gold-mining speculation become legitimate without the sensational features which have only been too prominent recently.
