Mr P. Eaes has fixed the date of his grand plain and fancy dress carnival for Thursday evening, the 3rd of October, whioh is already being spo en of freely in the district. Mr Faes is well-knowu for the way in which he manages these affairs, and the coming festival promises to be a a great success in every way. We understand it is the intention of Mr Faes to present prizes for the best plain and fancy dress, etc. worn on the occasion, particulars of which will appear in a future issue. McNicol and Co., auctioneers, have received instructions from M. A. Clarke to sell the whole of the live stock, furniture, etc., on the farm, near Waiorongomai, on Thursday, 17th October, particular's of which will appear in another column. We have received news from Mr Hetherington, draper, to the effect that he’ has also secured the services of a first-class milliner, so that dressmaking and millinery will be carried on in all its branches on the premises by competent young ladies. The firm of H and Co. will be ready to receive orders for millinery on same date as that of dressmaking, viz., on and after the 28th of this month. From the. genuiness of the above information there is not a doubt in our mind but there is something out of the usual way of things in store for the female sex of both town and country, this season at Mr Hetherington’s shop.
