MINING.

During tiio week an ilnusual amount of activity has beeh manifested in the Te Aroha mining industry. Many claims have been pegged out, and various water rights and machine sites applied for. While many of the claims that are held are preparing to commence opperations in real earnest. The Starlit-Dell is at present attracting some attention. It is an area of 30 acres, and is held by the Te Aroha Prospecting Syndicate. The Works Committee, Messrs Baine, Harris, McIndoe and Reid, have decided to employ men to clean up the mine and take out a trial crushing. The reef has been cut at the end of the drive, which is now in' a distance of 256 ft. The last parcel taken out yielded 1,7 dwt to the ton, and treated by the old mercury process. The reef is 7 feet through, with well-defined walls in sandstone country. , The Loyalty are still putting their stuff through the battery, and expect to get cleaned up to-day.
