The whole time of the Supreme Court Thursday was occupied in the trial of a man named McNair on two charges, one of larceny of a quantity of bacon at Paeroa, the other the theft of ii number of rugs from the Onehunga Mills. The thefts in both instances were characterised by a considerable amount of audacity. He was convicted on * both charges, but His Honor deferred passing sentence until to* day to give the accused an opportunity of calling witnesses as to his previous good character.
