Wellington, August 12. The Auckland members of both Houses entertained at a dinner at Bellamy’s the Auckland members of * the County Educational Conference now in Wellington. Sir M. O’Rorke was in the chair.. The Hons. J.‘ McKenzie, A. J. Cadman, and J. Carroll were present, ,and lengthy speeches were made. It is rumoured that the Bank is pressing the Government to introduce legislation enabling their properties to be taken oyer, receiving debentures bearing small interest. Threats are made that unless something is* done the Bank will be again in diffieultief.The Hon Mr Cadman is preparing" the Estimates, in which the Thames district will fare very well. •• •The County Conference is disappointing in its results. It is said the absence of copies of the new Government BiR is the cause.
