BAND OF HOPE .
Notwithstanding the uncertainty of the weather on Monday evening last a largo attendance were present at the usual monthly meeting of the above society, which took place in the' Town Hall. In the absance of the President the Rev Ti A. Joughin occupied the chair, andfduring the evening read a very interesting' and instructive article to those present. After a prayer and the singing of one of Hoyle’s temperance hymns the following programme was gone through, those taking part rendering their various items in a creditable manner :—Duet ( piano and violin), “ Pairy Dreamland Waltz,” Misses M. Evans and E. Stanley; recitation, Evening Song,” Master Harry Bennett; song, “ Dublin Bay,” Miss Flatt; hymn, 130; song, “ Little Bessie,” Miss Nellie Biggs-; short address by the Rev T. Nome'; hymn, "53'; violin solo, Master A. Craig ; song, “ The song that reached my heart-,” Miss Williamson; song, A boy’s'best fidend is his mother,” Miss Annie Craig; song, “Sixteen Hundred and Ninety-one,” Mr A. Marychurch. The singing of a. hymn and the pronouncing of the benediction brought the meeting to a close. At the close a meeting of the Committee took place to transact business in the interest of the* cause.
