I>R Barnado’s - issue: of'; Night and Day for Mqy is written in. the minor key. The Homes, with their c?fwopon floors, are receiving without crease or diminution a stream of waifs and strays for rescue and relief. They have already nearly 5,000 children under their care,_ and there are many special requirements which Dr Barnardo particularises, so that the needs of the w tU’k are as pressing as ever. But. the editor .states that there has been recently a very serious falling off in the contributions, and, as he himself writes in feeble health, the out; look presents itself to him as a very gloomy one. v In his opening article, ‘ Passing through Deep Waters, ’ he pressos'the serious nature of the situation upon his readers in a way that ought to command their sympathies and their responses. The other contents of thei number are full of interest ; illustrated case-hist ri's of some recent rescues; a page of pathetic life-notes, under the heading of‘S >mebody’sßairnsa well-selected series of -jottings about ; children, entitled ‘ The World of Childhood ;’ a painful collection of "M cruelty cases,’ aptly -named ‘ Delivered from Bondage,’ and many other items. We observe that the 29th anniversary of the Homes was. announced to take "place on the 21st June, in the Boyal Albert Hall. * Personal Notes,’ with their widelyvaried records of child rescue, and of help from all over the world to this. , remarkablefCharity, are unique.
