BURNED TO DEATH Westport, Saturday, A girl named Galvin, 1 i years old, , living, at Addison’s Flat, was brought to town to-day suffering from shocking burns. A number of children set fire to some rushes and debris, when the girl’s clothes caught fire and were burned off her body. The sufferer died this evening. VOLUNTEER DECORATIONS Christchurch. Sunday At the parade v of the Christchurch and Lyttelton volunteers last night, volunteer officers’ decorations were publicly presented to Colonel Sumpter, Majors Slator, Wolfe, Young, and Headland. Lieutenant-General Fulton, late R.A., made the, presentation. A ROMANTIC STORY. / Wellington, Monday. Among the women at the Salvation Army’s Pauline Home is one who states that, being unhappy with her family, she married some nine months ago, and removed to Auckland, where she found her husband was a married man with a family, She left him at once, and returned to Wellington, i where she donned boys’ clothes, and obtained work in a drain pipe factory. She was recognised after working a week, and accepted the shelter offered her by the Salvationists. The girl is 'only 21. id
