SUCCESSFUL LOCAL CANDIDATES Che results of the January mining examinations are to hand. Intheextminalion of first class coal mine managers for certificates under the Coal Mining Act, 1891, F. Newsome (Denuiston), passed. In the examination of first-class mine managers for certificates under the, Mining Act, 1891, P. H. Prince and F. Marshall passed. Certificates as battery superintendents h, ive been granted under the. Mining AetAmendment, 1894, as follows: bt. S. Mellett and J. S. Hope (Waitekauri) ; W. Hutchison, J. Napier, and I. E. Noble (Karangahate); H. P. Barry, A. E. Wilson, F. G.‘Banks and S. H; Adams (Waihi)\; J.A. Walker, J. Goldsworthy, H. Goldsworthy and BV E. Margetts (Kuaotunu); K. Wilson and J. H. Grlenway (Auckland ) ; H. F.Shepherd and J. Park (Thames).
