FOOTBALL JOTTINGS .

[By Drop-Kick.]

On Saturday last was the day fixed by the Ohinemuri Union for the Te, Aroha hoys to contest with the Waihites. In the event of the distance between the two teams being a long one (say more than 30 miles), it is generally under- ■ -stbmi'that the team who are supposed to travel make the arrangements where the game is to be played. The Te Aroha players were at a loss last Satuiday to know where their ents desired to play,,and notwithstanding the fact that several telegrams had been forwarded by the Te Aroha secretary asking for information with regard to the place selected, the W-aihi team did not condecend to reply. The Te Arohaites, all ready to start, were anxiously waiting for a reply to their missive, but not receiving any, had to content themselves with a’ practice on their own ground. I am of opinion that if this state of affairs continue, football in this district will soon be on the downwardrgrade.

The following will represent the Te Ayoha Football Club in the match against Morrinsville on Saturday next, the 13 th inst., to be played at the latter place: —Fullback, Pocock ; three-quarters, Gregory, Woods, F. Pavitt ; halves, Gorrie, Keesing, Kirby; forwards, Rennick (Captain), 0. Lipsey, Roto, Hamilton, Ngahura, L. Buchan, Smardon, Cornes. Einergiencie3, Morgan and McLean. A brake with the team .will leave Smardon Brothers stables at 12 o’clock sharp, all players are requested to be punctual'.' ;

Considerable interest- was taken in Auckland on Saturday: last in the match between Parnell and Grafton dubs. Some 3000 spectators journeyed to Potter’s paddock to witness the con-, test, which had been eagerly looked forward to. Thematch was to decide who were the winners of the senior cup. The contest was admitted on all •aides, to be the best ever‘played at Potter’l'P-addock, and the display of footbalbshowi|j t was worth travelling a long way Jjo- game resulted in a decisive; victory for Grafton by 11 points to nilr.
