MINING.
Waihi-Silvebton. The shares, in the Waihi-Silverton Company were allotted on Friday, by the local register at the rate of 45 each 100. Silver tons. At 10 o’clock the offers \yere 25s for the new shares, with ho sellers under 28s. During the morning the followingnotice was posted on the Exchange: /‘ Have forwarded the following cable to London ‘ Ore from winze shows free gold. Average assay from the lode gives £9 10s per ton.’ The result of this satisfactory notice was, that at the noon meeting buyers advanced to 31s with no sellers. No doubt when this cable reaches Loudon, the market for Waihi-Silverfcon shares .will strengthen considerably. Another £2,000 has been forwarded by the London directors to push on work in the. mine. This makes £6,000 received this year. The boom continues in Auckland, the market fluctuating from time to time according to the artifices of the ‘ bulls ’ and the ‘ bears.’ Great rivalry exists between ,the different centres, Coromandel, Thames, and' Ohinemuri, each district gets its innings on . the Stock exchange. As one rises, the other recedes, and a kind of see-saw goes on The month’s return from the mines are now coming in, and they look very well.
At the Warden’s Court, Whangarei, on Thursday, the application of thg British Gold and .Silver Mining Coy for a special claim at Puhipuhi of 100 acres was adjourned to - August. 7th, pending production of plans. The applications for water- rights, etc. were similarly adjourned. The application of the British No 2 was also adjourned.
