ENGLISH PARLIAMENT.
London, July 7. Parliament has been prorogued to July 24. Lord Salisbury speaking in the Lords delivered the election manifesto of his party. He advocated relief to agriculture by reducing taxation bearing thereon. Legislation regarding agricultural holdings and railway freights on farm produce, revision of ; poor laws, assistance to the workers to enable them to buy their own freeholds, which would add a powerful , bulwark to the traditions of the coun-v. try, and place its tranquility on -an irremoval foundation .He said the Tories aimed at changes, and hinted at a Pleasure for the relief of those reduced to poverty by the great vicissitudes of trade. >f ' . Mr Balfour has issued a manifesto on behalf of the Government, in which he advocates ’better housing' of workers, preservation of voluntary schools -and religious-interests therein, compensation to.'injured, workmen and.opening of market®'abroad.
